Show Me the Money!

Picture
The Return of the Archons, from the series’ first season.  Like The City on the Edge of Forever, this episode required location production, scores of extras, special costuming, and more than a couple “name” TV guest players.

Filling out the Top 10 most expensive episodes, exceeding the mandated budget set by NBC and Desilu (in the order of cost, most expensive first) were: Miri, What Are Little Girls Made Of?, Friday’s Child, The Galileo Seven, Catspaw, The Alternative Factor, Shore Leave and The Apple.

Exactly how much did each cost? And why did they run over budget and, in all cases, over schedule? Find out in These are the Voyages - TOS, Season One, by Marc Cushman, scheduled for release by Jacobs/Brown Press in July 2013.
